When I was 29 years old, I was living in Warner Robins, GA. I would get homesick for my family and drive 3 hours to stay with my sister, Georgia Brown. Georgia is married to Pastor Eric Brown. When I would go visit them, I would go to church with them, and God would get ahold of my heart, but I would put him off time and time again. But for some reason, my heart was desiring what they had. I just did not understand then what I know now.
The more I visited them, the more my heart would desire to be in church. After one church service, I knew I needed to start searching for a church to attend where I lived. I visited several churches but could not find the right one. One Sunday, while working at GEICO in Macon, I decided to go to a church in Warner Robins. It was probably 45 min from work to the church, and I knew I would be late, but I was going to try to make it. While driving, I passed by a Victory Baptist Church church, and my throat closed, and I felt like I would choke if I did not turn around and return to it. When I walked into the foyer and peeked through the door, there was a white-haired preacher, Bro. Paul Lavender, that said, “At this church, we believe in the King James Bible.” I thought, “Ok, this is the right church for me.”
I attended for about a month and felt the Lord talking to me, and He told me plain as day, “If you do not get saved today, then you will die and go to hell.” Mrs. Terri Hamm led me to the Lord on September 14, 2003; my life has never been the same.
God has answered so many prayers in my life. He gave me a great husband, allowed us to adopt three wonderful boys, and then God allowed me to get pregnant with our little girl. I never had a life like this growing up, and I know that God allowed all of this into my life because of my initial decision to follow Christ and be in His Will.
